This week Stephen starts a new class studying the book of Ezekiel.
Summary
- Covers the time of the Babylonian conquest of Judah and Jerusalem.
- Message is for the captives of Judah living in exile in Babylon
- The necessary steps taken by God to correct his disobedient people and the future hope of Israel.
- Firsthand account of what God told Ezekiel to speak to the captives of Judah living in Babylon.
- Most of the book focuses on God’s punishment of Judah and other nations, but also provides hope for the captives so that they would return to God and not lose hope entirely.

This morning David continues his study of the book of James. Today, he looks at chapter 5.
James 5 - Warnings, Encouragement, and Power
- Warnings to the rich - James 5:1-6
- Have you known anyone that was much richer than you? Did they consider themselves rich? Have you ever known anyone that was much, much poorer than you?
- We should all follow the instructions to the rich.
- What things were some doing wrong in verses 1-6.
- Kept wages back by fraud - v. 4
- Self-indulgence - v. 5
- Condemned and murdered righteous people
- How can we avoid being spiritually impaired by our desire for money?
- 1:11, 14, 15, 17, 27; 2:1,2,5,6,14-15; 4:2-4, 15-17
- Luke 12:20-21 "But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?"
- Matthew 6:19-21 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
- Be Patient and Persevering
- Look for but be patient for the second coming
- Philippians 4:5, "Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand."
