Questions for Revelation 14
Summary of last class:
We did not finish Revelation 13 in our last class, but we did get introduced to the sea beast and the power he was given to torment God’s people. In this week’s class we will discuss the persecution that came to God’s people through the sea beast (Rev. 13:5-10) as well as the role of the second beast that came out of the earth (Rev. 13:11-18). After looking at the evil opposition God’s people were facing, we will see how they were able to be victorious based on who John saw them standing with in chapter 14. Revelation 14 is filled with symbolic imagery that speaks of God’s people remaining faithful even in the face of hostility and being rewarded as a result. The power from the two beasts and the dragon from Revelation 12 and 13 is no match for the omnipotent lamb of chapter 14.
Questions for Chapter 14
- Who are the 144,000 (14:1)? How do you know?
- List the ways John describes the 144,000 in verse 4. What does this description tell us about them?
- What happens to those who worship the beast and receive its mark on their forehead (14:9-11)?
- What are the saints called to do with endurance (14:4, 14:12)?
- What does John tell us about those who die in the Lord (14:13)?
- Who was sitting on the white cloud with the golden crown on his head (14:14)?
- What is being described in Revelation 14:17-20?

Questions for Revelation 13
Summary of last week’s class:
In chapter 12 we were introduced to several of the main characters that will have an important role in the remainder of the book. The woman in chapter 12 represented the people of God, the dragon is the Devil, and the child born to the woman is Jesus Christ. The dragon unsuccessfully tried to devour the child, but the child was caught up to heaven to the throne of God. Next, the dragon turned his attention to the woman and her offspring. In this week’s class we will finish chapter 12 and see how the woman and her offspring overcame the dragon and how we can too. Chapter 13 introduces us to two more characters that are in opposition to God’s people. We will discuss the tactics used by God’s enemies to try and get his people to compromise (i.e., the mark of the beast) and how God’s people then and now could hold to their faith even under fiery trial.

- Who allows the beast to exercise authority for 42 months (13:2, 13:5, 13:7)?

- Who does the second verse represent (13:11-12)?
- What do you think the mark of the beast is in contrast to in the Book of Revelation (13:16-17, cf. 7:1-8)?
- What happens to those who refuse the mark of the beast (13:17)? What was this designed to do?
